IVC Parents & Students,

Last Thursday evening, a written threat in the form of graffiti was found on a restroom stall wall. This threat was directed towards a specific student. Although the severity of this situation is somewhat in question, we have taken it very seriously. Our main priority is the safety of the students and staff. There is a significant amount of evidence that has been turned over to the local police. Chief Mauer and the Chillicothe Police Department have handled this situation in an efficient and professional manner. The school district and the police department continue to work closely with each other as this investigation continues. We collectively agree that school should progress as scheduled throughout the week.

There is always a fine line trying to balance giving out information that may alleviate fears and, at the same time, maintaining the privacy rights of our students and the integrity of the investigation. As the investigation continues, there will be a police presence at IVC High School. We appreciate their support and the support of our community.

As the investigation continues, we will provide updates to the students, staff, and parents when available. A quick and efficient manner in which to communicate with parents is via Edline, our on-line program that is currently in place for grades, etc. Please contact the main office if you would like to sign up for an account on Edline. Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Kenton L. Bergman

Principal
